About WeldGearLab
WeldGearLab helps people choose welding equipment: MIG, TIG, stick and multi-process welders, plasma cutters, welding helmets, safety gear, welding tables and the fabrication tools that go with them. Our readers are homeowners with a garage project, farmers and homesteaders fixing their own equipment, car and truck builders, hobby welders moving past their first machine, and small fabrication shops.
Most of what is written about welders online repeats the box. A buyer needs different questions answered. Will it run on the outlet I have? What is the duty cycle at the amperage I will actually use? How thick a plate can it really handle in one pass? What does it come with, and what will I have to buy before the first bead?
What we actually do
We compare products by the numbers that decide whether a machine fits the work: input voltage, amperage range, rated duty cycle, the processes it supports, rated metal thickness, weight, and what is in the box. We read the safety listings and the warranty terms, and we say plainly who each pick is for and who should skip it.
We are direct about the limits of this. We do not run a test shop and we do not take physical measurements of products. The Lab in our name describes how we organize and compare published data, not a testing facility. Our How We Pick page explains exactly what our process involves and what it does not.
What we will not do
- We do not invent specifications, measurements, test results, or awards. Every number on this site can be traced to a source.
- We do not repeat a manufacturer’s marketing claim as a confirmed fact. When a figure comes from a brand, we label it manufacturer rated.
- We do not use fake urgency, countdown timers, or “deal ends soon” language.
- We do not write a roundup where every product is excellent. That is advertising with a different name.
How we are paid
WeldGearLab earns affiliate commissions. When you buy through a link on this site, the retailer may pay us a percentage, at no additional cost to you. That is the business model, and it is why a short disclosure appears near the top of every article and in full on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Commissions do not decide rankings. No brand can pay to be included, to rank higher, or to have a criticism removed. Our Editorial Policy explains how we keep that line clear.
Who is behind WeldGearLab
Henry Bui is the owner and editor in chief. He sets the editorial standards, owns the Gear Score method and its published weights, decides what gets published, and holds final responsibility for accuracy, sourcing and safety content.
